Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities for that rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle through Car Hire in Oxford, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. Ensure you possess a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification, proof of current address, and payment information, including a security deposit, are also required. Any additional conditions specified in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Oxford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment channels.
4. Picking Up and Dropping Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a comprehensive inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle later than agreed, please inform us as soon as possible to avoid additional fees. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with a corresponding administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. There may be options for additional insurance to lower your financial exposure. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you have purchased extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden, as is using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for. Adhering to passenger and weight limits is mandatory, and driving beyond agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Oxford is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or in cases of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
